Donated toys to help disadvantaged children were stolen from Salvation Army

Would you agree that the way Holiday Toy drives are run today is due for major disruption? We definitely think so and a recent story from Port Angeles, Washington only confirms our opinion. Several bikes and many electronic items were stolen from a Salvation Army storage space in Port Angeles.

A possibility of toys being stolen is not the only reason why we believe that the way toys are collected right now is up for a major change. Often, toy bins placed inside of local businesses that have foot traffic and offer discounts in return for a donated toy, end up collecting toys that looks like they were rejected by a child many years ago, your old new toys out of the attic, covered with dust. Once these toys are collected, it requires a major effort to sort through the items, most of the time with help of a large number of volunteers.

“What is a better way?”, you may ask. Gooddler offers a perfect solution, a platform where charities can create wish lists with specific items they need. Supporters can purchase items online and be sure that they will be delivered directly to the charity on a specific date. Thus, eliminating a need for storage and guaranteeing that all donated toys are needed and will be used.
